Hiking opportunities abound at
Prime Hook with four trails to choose from!

The Pine Grove Trail
0.8 mile loop

This trail skirts Fleetwood and Turkle ponds, through native plants and a hardwood forest. In the springtime, keep an eye out for the many warblers that stop by these woods during migration. Keep your eye on the ground and a ladyslipper might be found!
The Dike Trail
1.0 mile round trip

This trail follows the Headquarters Ditch from headquarters to a wheelchair accessible observation platform affording amazing marsh views. Eagles, ospreys and hawks are frequently spotted along this trail. Coots, gallinules and bitterns make their homes in the marshes on either side of the dike.
The Boardwalk Trail
0.5 mile loop

This trail travels through fresh water marsh and is wheelchair accessible. Wood ducks, deer and Delmarva fox squirrels are all inhabitants you may catch a glimpse of along this trail.

The Black Farm Trail
0.6 mile round trip

This trail follows a former farm road showing edge habitat from wooded uplands, through agricultural lands and ending at the edge of the marsh with access to the photo-blind. Deer, coyotes, turkeys and woodcocks can be spotted along this trail. From the photo-blind, you can spot ospreys and ducks of all kinds.

Blue Goose Trail
1.4 miles

Designated for foot traffic. This trail includes arduous hiking over stumps & exposed roots. The trail features upland fields, forest, freshwater marsh and several wildlife observation areas. Bring your dog along and enjoy!
